Still In Holiday Mode
December 27th, 2007
Bren came in to work with me this afternoon at one o’clock. There were only three girls in the teen room watching T.V. when we arrived, so I knew I would have plenty of time to take all the Christmas decorations down and clean real well, which is nearly impossible to do with a room full of kids.
I worked non-stop, cleaning for four hours while Bren read her Beth Moore book, watched a movie, and played Guitar Hero on PS2. Rick came and picked her up at 5:00 so they could go home and get ready for their date. As a Christmas gift, Bren wanted to take her dad out to our favorite Thai restaurant in Fairbanks. Bren and I have eaten there sevearl times, but Rick had never been. He loved it.
After I got off work at 7:00 I took my co-worker to dinner. The club had closed down early due to lack of customers, so we settled for club sandwiches at the bowling alley snackbar since neither of us wanted to drive to North Pole. I really enjoyed sitting for an hour, just chatting, getting to know Manny a little better.
I was in trouble when I got home. Unfortunately, my phone had died and I missed Bren’s calls. They had returned home from town at 7:00 and expected me to be home shortly after since nothing is open late around here for a couple days. When I didn’t answer my phone Bren got worried and they drove around to the few places I could possibly be. They pulled into the driveway right behind me and Bren proceeded to chew me out for letting my phone die. Bad Mom.
Our evening was real quiet. Bren bought songs on itunes and I surfed for new blog themes (This blog theme is called ARCTIC. Do you like it? Scroll to the bottom of the page.) and began reading my book Addictions: A Banquet In The Grave. I think it will be good.
A simple woman is clamorous;
she is simple and knows nothing.
For she sits at the door of her house
On a seat by the highest places of the city,
to call to those who pass by,
Who go straight on their way:
“Whoever is simple, turn here”;
And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
“Stolen water is sweet,
and bread eaten in secret is plesant”.
But he does not know that the dead are there,
that her guests are in the depths of hell.
~ Proverbs 9:13-18

I never remember reading that passage but it sounds like “Poetry in motion”

And here I thought that blank look in the cell phone was normal. Well for mine it is according to your Mom.
Just sitting here working on my stamps, drinking coffee, and waiting for the football game to come on.
This year reminds me of what was said long ago, ” All’s well that ends well”. The getting here was tough for some but that’s in the rear view now. Look at the wide open road ahead
! I’m excited! Love to Ya’ll Dad
